Kakuya Ohashi and Dancers' new piece "Tokyo Story" will be performed in Germany and Poland, as a world premiere, in a tour "Dance from Japan".
Kakuya Ohashi and Dancers have created many pieces which depict the internal and external bodies of people of contemporary Japanese society by using an original creation method based on Butoh. For our new piece, we have chosen our home city Tokyo to be its theme.

[Synopsis]
The plot is located in the city. In this space, there are five men and women, continuously passing by each other, unaware of the others. Their values and principles they once had are quietly and gradually, but without doubt, fading away. They are caught in the middle of the ordinary and the extraordinary life, where the border is always blurred.
As it was for the old couple who appeared in the movie “Tokyo Story” by Yasujiro Ozu, Tokyo never shows its true picture to us. Tokyo swallows them and they are lost. Their lost bodies, bodies that have nowhere to return, are drifting endlessly.

The new work by Kakuya Ohashi and Dancers "The Rite of Spring"
Kakuya Ohashi and Dancers’, the leading edge of 21st century contemporary dance scene in
Japan, will give a challenge to Stravinsky’s masterpiece “The Rite of Spring”. It will open on
May, 2010 at Theatre Tram in Tokyo, a representative theatre for contemporary dance.
Choreographer Ohashi will be back on stage for the first time in three years.

"The Rite of Spring" is the latest work of Kakuya Ohashi and Dancers which has been running in the battle front of the contemporary dance scene in Japan. It's their drastic challenge to the masterpiece of Stravinsky's ballet music. It may superimpose the bodies of the 10s of current century when a wave of globalization sweeps over the world on one of the world greatest masterpiece symbolizing the 10s of last century when the world was rushing from confusion to the war. The performance of this time is the excerpted version of "The Rite of Spring" presented as work-in progress.

"Bleached" is a new work of Kakuya Ohashi and Dancers with a live music play by "jabo".
The place is an abandoned bike park in the middle of the city. The piece explores the relationship between people and the city, which begins with a background deprived (Bleached) situation. This is a site-specific piece in which the performing space plays a significant factor. Also, it collaborates with musicians who lead Tokyo's music improvisation scene today.

Kakuya Ohashi's position within the Japanese contemporary dance scene is unique. His works have excluded the elements of "dance” as much as possible, and pursuits to the extreme the fact that the body is in front of the eye, here and now. "Chain of Clarity” can said to be the culmination of those works by Ohashi.

Our latest performance, just been staged this month in Tokyo for the first time, was a success for its uniqueness and quality. Originally performance of "Chain of Clarity" has three parts( total 110 min). Itis a rare piece which little has been introduced outside of Japan at the moment.

About the ticket sales system
Kakuya Ohashi and Dancers consider nowadays"gap society" is also a problem facing the artistic world as well. According to this, we divided the tickets into 3 types.
Ticket A: 20,000yen is for those who have leeway to make a contribution to the performance.
Ticket B: 5,000yen is for those who wish to experience the performance and can afford to buy a regular ticket.
Ticket C: 0yen is for those who "need" to experience the performance but cannot afford to buy a ticket.
*All seats are reserved.
*Advance tickets and on-the-day tickets are the same price.
The 3 types of tickets do not reflect seat areas.
Ticket A includes a small gift.
Ticket C has a limit in number. Also, ticket C will not be sold on the day of the performance.
